The “Boyza Bus”

Wallsend Boys’ Club had applied in the Summer of 2010 to the Peoples Millions for their project the “Boyza Bus” to be considered for entry into the November Peoples Millions TV contest. Each day for a week every ITV region runs its own Peoples Millions contest, putting two approved bids head to head against each other, pitching for their share of a quarter of a million pounds. Rhyedt Avenue

Rhyedt Avenue football pitches play their first games. Early October 2007 had seen the arrival of Rok Builders and Hellens football pitch specialists on the Rhyedt Avenue site to start on the re-development, changing the site from three redundant golf holes into seven state of the art football pitches with top class changing rooms, and large car park.They were quick off the mark with trees and shrubs in the centre of the site ripped from the ground within ten days, and then huge earth moving equipment moved on site to remove the top surface, level the site and apply the...

Battle Hill Project

A good day was had by all the residents on Wednesday 27th August when the boys club teamed up with North Tyneside Council, Tyne & Wear Fire Service and the NCS project to offer services in the local area to its residents. The fire service checked and installed fire alarms in residents houses while the police brought their mobile bike tagging unit along to tag bikes in the local area. Michael Carrick’s career takes off

On a more national, and indeed international level, the career of one of the most stellar of the Wallsend Boys’ Club stars continued through 2008-2010 to get better and better. To add to the winning of a Premier League Champion’s medal and FA Cup Finalist’s medal in the 2006/2007 season, Michael Carrick’s career at Manchester United flourished. Tony Blair visits Wallsend Boys’ Club

On Friday 14th November 2008 Former Prime Minister Tony Blair (now a UN peace ambassador for the Middle East) visited Wallsend Boys’ Club. The security was very intense with police visiting the premises on the two days leading up to the visit and there was a very visible police presence on the Friday morning. The great and the good of the area were present including elected Deputy Mayor Jim Allen and the head of the Northumberland FA. After months of planning and preparation, October 6th 2005 saw Wallsend Boys’ Club celebrate the 40th anniversary of the ‘new club’ opening for business. And what a celebration it was! Millions of pounds worth of footballing talent crammed into the Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel to pay tribute to their roots at the club. Wallsend Boys’ Club senior football team formed and trip to Rogatz in 2008. There had not been a senior team in the club for over half a century but in 2007 Wallsend “Old Boys” were formed and donned the famous green and yellow shirt which had been pulled on by so many other talented footballers. Freedom of Borough awarded to Wallsend Boys’ Club

On Thursday 14th June 2007, Wallsend Boys’ Club were awarded the biggest honour North Tyneside Council could possibly give. At a meeting of the full Council, Councillors wanted to recognise the work by the Boys’ Club and unanimously agreed to award them the freedom of the borough. Wallsend Boys’ Club get planning permission for football pitches and changing rooms at Rhyedt Avenue. Michael Carrick plays in World Cup

Michael Carrick plays in World Cup Finals for England. As a reminder of what a tradition the club has to maintain, in the summer of 2006 Michael Carrick became the THIRD former Wallsend Boys’ Club member to play in the World Cup Finals, following in the hallowed footsteps of Peter Beardsley and Alan Shearer, when he starred for England in the first knock out stage game, against ECUADOR, on Sunday 25th June 2006.
