Harriet Harman Visit

Wallsend Boys’ Club has over the years produced more than 70 top class footballers, including Peter Beardsley, Alan Shearer and Michael Carrick, since it was founded in 1904. However, the Club does so much more. Wallsend Boys Club is a charity guiding girls and boys aged six to nineteen to achieve their potential through activities and opportunities. Interacting with the young people of the borough and providing positive diversionary activities to keep them engaged and in an effort to combat anti social behaviour. Harriet visited the boys club on 30/10/13 “It was great to hear about the club’s achievements when...

We will Rebuild

We used that strap-line (We Will Rebuild) 5 years ago on our 2007 Dinner Programme after we (Wallsend Boys’ Club) had been granted the funding to develop our own pitches and changing rooms at Bigges Main. The Club thought that this line from Jimmy Nail’s song, ‘Big River’, was a statement of defiance to set against the continuing economic decline of Wallsend as a town after the loss of its Shipbuilding and Coal Mining industries in previous years. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/we-will-rebuild/

NCYP Clay Pigeon Shoot

Early Wednesday morning we were greeted by our four eager participants who had never tried this activity before and were both excited and keen to get their shooting experience underway. Before we could set off to the field that would serve as our shooting ground; we were handed our ear plugs and the instructors briefed the group on health and safety and a few ground-rules regarding the handling and...

ASDA Bag Pack

This activity was organised as a fundraising event for our young people involved in our NCS project in conjunction with ASDA Wallsend. 12 of our young people spent 4 hours helping local shoppers to pack their shopping bags and welcome them into the store. The team raised a very presentable total of £134 not at all bad for a smaller branch.

ASDA Appeal

ASDA Wallsend were kind enough to let us join their local appeal. We battled it out with two other local organisations and people pledged their little green tokens they were given for shopping at the store in to the slot they saw fit to support. It was clear from the out set that the local people felt the Boys Club was a worth while cause and worthy of their tokens as our levels rose and rose. By the time the competition came to a close the Boys club was a clear favourite with the tokens almost at the top. We...
