Demise of Wallsend Boys’ Club’s greatest friend

On November 14th 1904 Swan Hunter opened Wallsend’s first Boys’ Club. The Swan connection carried on strongly when in 1938 Sheriton Clements Swan, a director of Swan Hunter Shipbuilders became president of the new Wallsend Boys’ club, based at Station Road Wallsend. The Swan connection stayed strong, with Sheriton Clements Swan heavily involved with the re-building of the Boys’ Club in 1965 where he remained president until 1967. The “Boyza Bus”

Wallsend Boys’ Club had applied in the Summer of 2010 to the Peoples Millions for their project the “Boyza Bus” to be considered for entry into the November Peoples Millions TV contest. Each day for a week every ITV region runs its own Peoples Millions contest, putting two approved bids head to head against each other, pitching for their share of a quarter of a million pounds. Rhyedt Avenue

Rhyedt Avenue football pitches play their first games. Early October 2007 had seen the arrival of Rok Builders and Hellens football pitch specialists on the Rhyedt Avenue site to start on the re-development, changing the site from three redundant golf holes into seven state of the art football pitches with top class changing rooms, and large car park.They were quick off the mark with trees and shrubs in the centre of the site ripped from the ground within ten days, and then huge earth moving equipment moved on site to remove the top surface, level the site and apply the...

Battle Hill Project

A good day was had by all the residents on Wednesday 27th August when the boys club teamed up with North Tyneside Council, Tyne & Wear Fire Service and the NCS project to offer services in the local area to its residents. The fire service checked and installed fire alarms in residents houses while the police brought their mobile bike tagging unit along to tag bikes in the local area. Michael Carrick’s career takes off

On a more national, and indeed international level, the career of one of the most stellar of the Wallsend Boys’ Club stars continued through 2008-2010 to get better and better. To add to the winning of a Premier League Champion’s medal and FA Cup Finalist’s medal in the 2006/2007 season, Michael Carrick’s career at Manchester United flourished.
